God's plan

Today we started our annual summer holiday club. This year we are doing about Moses and God's rescue of the Israelites out of Egypt. Today's story was taken from Exodus 2 and is the story of how Moses was hidden in the rushes.
This got me thinking. Moses was 3 months old when his mother chose to put him into the Nile to save his life. Pharaohs daughter came along and found the baby and took him to be her son. Moses mother was taking a big risk doing this, however God had a plan for this small baby. He had ordained that Moses would be the man to get the people out of Egypt.
God has a plan and a purpose for all our lives. He knew what I would become even before I was born. He knows everything there is to know about me, good and bad.
The great thing about this truth is the fact that even when things are difficult, God is still in control, He never changes and so His plan and purpose for our lives is perfect. The only thing we need to do is to listen to Him and walk in His ways. Follow Him and we can't go wrong. Moses managed to save a nation through obeying God I wonder what amazing thing God will do through us following His way?

1 Corinthians 10 - Who do I glorify?

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of the Lord. This passage of scripture in Corinthians 10 is really important. Whatever we do we must do our best, we must be honourable and most of all we must glorify our Heavenly Father.
During Jesus ministry, everything He did glorified the Father. Everything He said pointed to God. We too in our daily walk should show Jesus to the world. People should see a difference in us that shows Jesus working in our lives.
It also says in this chapter that we can't have our feet in two camps. That means we can't be Sunday Christians. We should be the same all the time no matter what day of the week.
Does my life point to Jesus? Does my life glorify God? When others see me do they see a difference in me or am I just like everyone else?
I know that if I was honest in answering these questions, the answers would not be what I would choose, and certainly not what Jesus would choose for me.
What about you? Read this chapter of Corinthians and do what I did. Ask yourself some questions and see if you are glorifying your Father in Heaven. We are called to make disciples of ALL men. If we don't act in a manner that would glorify God then we are living a lie and need to repent.
If we want to make a difference in this world for the Kingdom, then lets get with the programme and glorify God in everything we say, do and think. Let's show a lost world that Jesus is Lord and that we have a Saviour that loves us so much that He died to set us free. Let's glorify God with everything we have - with our whole being!

Acknowledge the Saviour, He won't let you fall!

Over the last few weeks various things have happened in my life that have been hard to deal with. We all go through things that are unpleasant or difficult and so for me it is so comforting to know that I have a hope that gets me through the hard stuff. I know that I can trust in Jesus to help me through the trials of life.
About a month ago, I was having back pain, and knowing that I had lots of active work in the weeks ahead, I went to receive prayer in our 'healing rooms'. To be honest I didn't really know what to expect, however I was so glad I went. The ladies praying with me were so reassuring and prayed for me as well as reading scriptures to me. They gave me a scripture from Psalm 91 that I have found invaluable over the past few weeks.

“Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
  I will deliver him and honour him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

I just want to encourage anyone reading this blogg. If you are going through hardship, if you are struggling with anything, if you feel lonely or sad, if you feel lost or afraid, if you feel that everything around you is going wrong, then look to the one that flung the stars into space, look to the one that created you, look to the one that died for you, look to the one that loves you with a never ending love. He will be with you in trouble, He will deliver you and be there with you every step of the way. Acknowledge the Saviour, He won't let you fall!

Upside down

This week at our Romanian Holiday Club we've been telling the children about Peter and of how he was so changed by knowing Jesus. This is an amazing transformation. Peter goes from being a fisherman which people wouldn't necessarily have noticed, to a man that changes the way we think of God.
Jesus enters his life and Peter is no longer a nobody, but instead he becomes a somebody. We are the same. When we receive Jesus into our lives and accept Him as Lord and Saviour, our lives get turned upside down. Jesus doesn't only free us from death and sin, but He also changes our whole lives and makes us brand new!
We are a new creation through the cross of Christ. We need to remember that He paid the price so that we could be different. I would never have imagined coming to Romania to work with children, but because Jesus is Lord of my life, He enables me to do things that I wouldn't even have dreamt of. Just like Peter. Peter never imagined that he would be stood up in front of a crowd and telling them the good news of Jesus. He never thought in his wildest imagination that he would see people become followers of Christ, he never thought that he would be famous. We need to remember that we are the people that God has called us to be, and that He has called us because we are who we are. Let's allow God to enable us to be a Peter for our world and allow God to do amazing things through us that will surprise us and Glorify Him!

Update.......God's mission

I haven't managed to do my blogg for a few weeks as I am away on mission. I thought that I would write something of how Good God is as I want to be able to encourage those that read my blogg as well as encourage myself at the same time!
Over the last two weeks I have been working away from home. I have been to New Wine working with the team there ministering to the children. Seeing 700 children aged 8-11 in worship is truly an amazing thing to behold!
I am currently in Romania leading a Holiday club for Romanian children. The children are brilliant and listen so well. We are teaching them about Peter and how he changed after meeting Jesus.
It is a real privilege to be able to share the good news with those that don't know it, especially in such hard circumstances.
So be blessed! God is in control! He is Lord! Let's share His love, grace and mercy with the world. Let's join God in His mission!
