Prayer - important or insignificant?

Then I looked and saw a Lamb standing in the centre of the throne that was surrounded by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb looked as if it had once been killed. It had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God, sent out to all the earth. The Lamb went over and took the scroll from the right hand of the one who sat on the throne. After he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders knelt down before him. Each of them had a harp and a gold bowl full of incense,  which are the prayers of God's people - Revelation 5: 6-8
What a fantastic picture of Jesus. Jesus, the lamb that was sacrificed to take away the sin of the world. We are so fortunate and I don't think we realise how grateful we should be. In the Old Testament we would've had to make sacrifices for our sin but Jesus died so that we don't have to do this any more, in fact He became the ultimate sacrifice for us, paying the debt that we owe.

This chapter also shows us a picture of our prayers. Our prayers are like fragrant offerings to God. Incense was used in sacrifices too, as a pleasing aroma to God. Our prayers are the fragrance that is pleasing to God. I love this vision. I love the thought that our prayers are taken to God in golden bowls, and that God Himself waits for them.
We need to take our prayers seriously. We need to make more time for our prayers. Our prayers are so important to God that He has them delivered first class, in golden bowls and presented to Him on bended knee. I know that I need to make more of my prayers, what about you? If our prayers are important to the Creator of Heaven and Earth then I think they should be taken more seriously by the ones making them.
