Who do you serve?

Once again John doesn't hold back. In 1 John 2 he comes out fighting, telling us that we cannot love the world and love God.Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever
This advice from John is something that is still very important, in fact I think this is more relevant for today than it has ever been. We live in a world that is forever trying to keep up with the Joneses. We go through life wanting what others have, living the celebrity lifestyle, needing the newest gadget, having the perfect job and so on. This means that God is squeezed out of the equation. We are so busy chasing the things of the world that we miss the point completely. This world and everything in it is temporary. We have a God that has prepared a place for us with Him that is far superior to this earthly place. Although we forget about that and lust after the things of this world. In this passage John warns us of this, he advises us to look to our heavenly future and forget about the current desires.
If we want after the things of this world, eventually they will become our master. I know personally that I only have and want one master and His name is Jesus. Let's make sure that we serve the living Lord and not the things of the world. Who do you serve?
